The olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji has rejected bail out funds from Ibadan indigenes in the diaspora.
His personal assistant and media director, Adeloa Oloko spoke on JENWITEMI a Space FM audience participatory programme, while reacting to the nonpayment of the eleven months salaries of palace staffs and olubadan’s salary.
Oloko reiterated that the controversial approval of beaded crowns by the Oyo state government to Ibadan High Chiefs is irreversible.
But the Oyo state commissioner for local government and cheiftaincy matters,Bimbo Kolade denied the allegations.
He said the government did not owe the olubadan or any of his chiefs, as their salaries have been paid up to date.
His words:” to the best of my knowledge, this government is not owing olubadan any salary.
Reacting to oloko’s claim that Ibadan indigenes in the diaspora have undertaken to the traditional council wage bill, Kolade said: “as far as I’m concerned, we have always paid the monarch what is due him in terms of emoluments”
