The National Universities Commission has approved the establishment of additional three universities in Imo state.
Executive Secretary of the commission, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed announced this today after receiving the master plan, academic brief and environmental impact analysis from Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo state .
Abubakar said the additional three universities, makes it five universities in imo state, which he noted would help address the challenge of admission in the country.
He further reiterated that the commission would swing into action on how to develop the curriculum for the universities to be allowed to commence operations in the university of creativity. “By the provision of the law establishing NUC and by the power converged on me and having Imo house of assembly to pass the law for the establishment of the university, I hereby recognise the three universities. “
On his part, Imo State Governor , Rochas Okorocha explained that the need to satisfy more candidates seeking admission informed the establishment of the universities.
He however noted that there was need for more manpower to handle the medical science and creative sector of the country.
The universities include university of science and technology, Omuna Isiako, university of creative technology, Umuna and the University of medical science, Ogboko.
